About the event
Building on the success of last year and as part of the Mayor of West Yorkshire's mission to improve the safety of women and girls, we are hosting a second Reclaim the Night event at Greenhead Park in Huddersfield.
As winter nights draw in, and the clocks go back, we want to empower women and girls of West Yorkshire to Reclaim the Night in public spaces. So, in collaboration, Kirklees Council, West Yorkshire Combined Authority and Kirklees Domestic Abuse Specialist Services (KDASS) are hosting an exciting event to “RECLAIM THE NIGHT!”
There will be lots of activities for families to get involved in, including, making placards, craft activities, sports activities, creating a mural, accessing support services such as legal advice, drugs/alcohol, domestic abuse, housing support.
West Yorkshire Mayor, Tracy Brabin, and Deputy Mayor, Alison Lowe will be attending this outdoor event, which is open to all residents, organisations and groups – for a safer West Yorkshire
Finally there will be a march round the park, to draw attention to the challenges women and girls face when spending time in public places.
Reclaim events are taking place in other areas of West Yorkshire - please see the link under Further Information for more details.
