About the venue

  1. Greenhead Park opened in September 1884 and has proved to be popular with the people of Huddersfield ever since. Only half a mile from Huddersfield town centre, the park is a world away from the hustle and bustle of the town. It is the perfect place to unwind, relax and enjoy the park's wonderful improvements which have taken place.

Band standThis restored timber design with chinoiserie detail dates from the 1890s and will be a key feature for musical events.
Basket ball court-
Bowling greenThere are two bowling greens which are used by the Greenhead Park Bowling Club for matches and practice. There is usually at least one green available for public use during the bowling season, and the Friends of Greenhead Park and Bowling Club are keen to encourage people who haven't tried bowling before to have a go. Conservatory with Cafe RestaurantThis building was added to the park in the late 1920's and has now been fully reglazed and joins on to a new two-storey building which provides a wonderful restaurant and event space for the park. This is open between 10 and 4 during the winter, and between 10 and 5 in the summer. It is also available for private hire in the evenings. For more details please call 01484 221515 or email

Summer events-
Tennis courts9 hard courts and 2 Multi-Use Games Areas which are free to access throughout the year! There is currently no booking system at the site so you can just turn up and play. As we approach the tennis season we will be implementing a free online court reservation system so you can get a court in advance.
Paddling poolThe pool is normally open from late May to September, depending on the weather. The water is treated daily to keep it clean and leaves, debris and litter are also removed on a daily basis.
Skate parkThe Greenhead Park skatepark is a great attraction for young people who want to hone their skateboarding skills. The site welcomes BMX bikers and rollerbladers as well as skateboarders, and there’s free and open access during park opening hours.
