  1. In 2019 The Friends of Skelmanthorpe Community Library, with the support and assistance of Denby Dale Parish Council, embarked upon an exciting and ambitious development in the Denby Dale Parish Council/Skelmanthorpe Community Library building.
Our artistic policy is to mount three or four ‘major’ exhibitions each year, interspersed with rolling shows of work from local artists and art groups. The ‘major’ exhibition we had planned, ‘Springtime in Yorkshire’, for which we had received many submissions has had to be cancelled and plans for future exhibitions put on hold for the foreseeable future. We hope to show some of the submissions online in a ‘virtual’ gallery

We believe that Village Art will provide a great opportunity for local artists and art groups to exhibit their work in dedicated spaces and we also want to include the work of professional artists from further afield and school exam exhibitions and children’s work.

The building offers approximately 60 linear metres of hanging space in three discrete areas – two sizeable rooms plus ample stairs, landing and corridor space - and some limited facilities for 3D works in glass cases. The hanging system is Artiteq Click Rail
