  1. The Minster works as part of the Team Parish of Dewsbury to serve the people of our Town in many different ways, and shares a rich local heritage within the Heavy Woollen District.  

    You are warmly invited to visit this beautiful and ancient church. You can enjoy the Refectory Cafe, Gift Shop, Heritage Centre, Pilgrimage Chapel and there are Conference and event facilities to suit a wide variety of needs, from individuals, to community and business.

    The Minster Team welcomes all visitors, those of all faiths and those of none, we're looking forward to seeing you.

    Opening times:
    The Minster is open Monday - Friday from 10am to 2pm
    The Refectory Cafe is open Monday to Friday 10am to 2pm.

    DIY tour leaflets are available to help visitors explore this ancient site, whilst guided tours can be booked for individuals, schools and other organisations.

History

  1. 627 Paulinus brought Christianity to Dewsbury.
    850 A stone cross commemorated Paulinus.
    980 The Anglo Saxon Minster Church flourished.
    1086 Doomsday:Dewsberia had church and priest.
    1170 and 1220 Norman pillars and aisles built.
    1485 to 1603 Medieval roof and registers started.
    1767 Georgian aisles and tower erected.
    1884 to 1887 Victorian East End built.
    1978 East End re-ordered.
    1993 All Saints regains her Minster status
    1995 and ongoing: Beautiful re-orderings with renewed commitment to mission and ministry to the town
