  1. EPIKS (or Environmental Projects in Kirklees) aims to make our towns and villages a better place to live, work and study and to give people an opportunity to make difference on 'climate issues'. We have recently expanded our environmental volunteering programme which now has regular activities listed on Third Sector Leaders and other web sites.

For many years our main focus has been in promoting biodiversity and river stewardship, working in partnership with community organisations, businesses, education institutions and Kirklees Council through our "Greenstreams" project.

As part of our longer term vision for Kirklees we are working on the planned Huddersfield Riverside Nature Park - just one part of our ambitious 3 Valleys Nature Park -which aims to improve access and stewardship of all our green spaces and waterways/rivers.

Our other 'climate issues' include active travel where we have been promoting the wider use of e-bikes (pedal assisted electric bikes) with employers and communities.

EPIKS is a not for profit environmental organisation based in Huddersfield. With the support of volunteers, local sponsors and partners we deliver local environmental projects and our registered company name is Environment Kirklees Ltd.

Please see our website for more Information.

History

  1. Environmental Alliance Ltd was set up in 1997 and since that time has been involved in many community environmental projects.
For many years the main focus has been in promoting biodiversity and river stewardship, working in partnership with community organisations, businesses, education institutions and Kirklees Council through our "Greenstreams" project. As a result, around the River Colne several kilometers of public access has been created where previously, there was none.
T he company became Environment Kirklees Ltd in 2016, following a merger of Kirklees Environment Partnership with Environmental Alliance Ltd. Since then, this not for profit company has diversified into other eco-activities and rebranded as EPIKs.
Working with local businesses and community groups, the company aims to ensure local people and employees of local businesses are involved in environmental projects.
