  1. Chol is a pioneering theatre and arts charity rooted in Kirklees, where our story began in 1989. From these deep local roots, we work across Yorkshire, nationally and internationally, sharing and developing approaches to co-creation that place children, young people and communities at the heart of creativity and change.

We make ambitious theatre, creative projects and learning experiences in the everyday places where people live, learn and come together. Across Kirklees, we work closely with schools, libraries, community organisations, artists and local people, co-creating work shaped by the stories, heritage, ideas and ambitions of our communities. Through projects, performances and our mobile creative space, the Cholavan, we take high-quality cultural experiences directly into neighbourhoods across the district.

Radical kindness, openness, collaboration, learning, inclusivity and equity guide everything we do. We create spaces that encourage curiosity, open dialogue and the celebration of difference, supporting children, young people and communities to feel powerful, valued and connected. Together, we nurture the next generation of creative changemakers and demonstrate how ideas grown locally can influence practice and inspire change far beyond Kirklees.
