Kirklees Summer Play Camp

    Camp is for children aged 9 to 12 years inclusive and is run by an experienced voluntary organization that is staffed by teachers, and experienced volunteers all of whom are DBS (CRB) checked.

    The camp allows groups of about 75 children to spend 4 days (including 3 nights) in the country. Each of the three nights are spent in tents surrounded by open countryside. The children share 4 person tents, they sleep on roll mats in the cosy inner compartment. Children do not need any special equipment, just sensible clothing, footwear and a sleeping bag (although this can be provided if necessary).

    2021 cost per camp is £61.06 or £20.50 for low income families.

Events and activities

Your activities will appear on our ‘Things to do’ pages. You can include any regular ongoing activities that people can join in with, such as scouts and guides, youth clubs, craft groups, dancing, sports clubs and gardening clubs.

If you want to change your venue or add a new one please use the postcode / street name field to see a list of venues. This should cover all venues in Kirklees, but if you can’t find the venue you need please contact Community Directory, and we will advise or add it for you.

  2. The activities at Camp are run by a voluntary organisation which has been operating in partnership with Kirklees Council since the 1960s. The current leaders, Jane and Duncan Haywood, have been involved since 1976 and have been leading the camp since 1988. They received MBEs for their work in 2005.
