  1. The Greenwood Centre - Library and Information Centre

    Library opening hours are :

    Monday 10am to 1pm;

    Tuesday 1pm to 5pm;

    Wednesday closed;

    Thursday 1pm to 7pm;

    Friday closed;

    Saturday 12pm to 4pm;

    Sunday 1pm to 4pm.


    Every library in Kirklees has a range of books available for members to borrow free of charge. It’s free to join; call in to your library with some ID.

    You can also borrow talking books, large print books, and at some libraries DVDs. We also offer e-books and e-audio. Search the library catalogue to see what’s available.

    Every library has public access computers that library members can use free of charge. You can also print for a small charge. We offer free basic IT help to anyone who would like to feel more confident using computers.

    Library staff will help you access information, council services, learning and volunteering opportunities. Some locations also have visitor information.

    Libraries host a range of events including children’s storytimes, coffee mornings, knit and natter, and reading groups. Please contact the library for more details.

    Rooms for hire:

    Community rooms for hire. The centre is run by Kirklees Council and bookings are managed through the Community Buildings Bookings Team. Please contact them for details of prices and more information.

    The Children's Centre:

    Our partner service, the Children's Centre, delivers a range of services including Health, Education, Family Support and Community Work through which they aim to support families in the area especially those with children under 5 years of age. Please contact them to find out about the wide range of activities and help that they offer.
