  1. The Young Peoples Activity Team (YPAT) provide short breaks respite for disabled children and young people aged 8 to 17, with moderate to complex needs..

    Services offered include:

    School holiday playschemes: in all school holidays, except May half term 10am-3pm.

    Weekend clubs: Saturday and Sunday 10am – 3pm.

    All services are allocated upon assessed need by Kirklees Children with a Disability Team or the Early Support and Inclusion Team.

    The team provides a safe setting where the children and young people can take part in a range of fun and stimulating activities and the opportunity to access a variety of trips. There will be a charge for any trips and outings. Parents will be notified of these at the time of booking.

    Sessions will operate from community buildings in North and South Kirklees.

    North Kirklees venues are:
    Crow Nest Park, Dewsbury, WF13 2SG
    Birstall and Birkenshaw Children’s Centre, Birstall, WF17 9BP

    South Kirklees venue is:
    Lowerhouses Children’s Centre, Huddersfield, HD5 8JY

    YPAT has an experienced team of paid staff and volunteers with training in areas such as positive behaviour support, safeguarding, movement and handling, paediatric first aid, administering gastro feeds and medication, emergency medication, and food safety. All staff and volunteers undergo a DBS check.
