  1. The Centre offers social and recreational facilities, and welcomes anyone who has a degree of hearing loss. It is a social meeting place for deaf and hard of hearing people.

    The office is open for help and information on Wednesdays 9am to 2pm (please check first)

    Please note: There is ramp access into the building, but the meeting room is upstairs - there is a stairlift but not a lift for wheelchairs.

History

  1. Huddersfield Deaf Society was established in the 1920's and was known as 'Huddersfield and District Adult Deaf and Dumb Institute' and met at 28/30 Ramsden Street, Huddersfield.

    In 1967 the Society moved to the First Floor at 14 Upperhead Row, Huddersfield, and in 1970 moved into the Welfare Centre, Zetland Street, Huddersfield until 1990 when Huddersfield & District Society for the Deaf moved to their present address of 53a Trinity Street Huddersfield.
