Moving Pictures: From Magic Lanterns to Cinema at Tolson Museum

About the event

A fun, hands-on activity for curious minds of all ages.

Step back in time this Easter half term and discover how the very first moving images amazed audiences long before modern film existed.

Explore fascinating early optical toys and learn how people in the past created the illusion of movement using simple images. Then have a go at making your own moving picture and see how still images can spring to life before your eyes, just like the pioneers of cinema did.
