About the event
Be inspired by the Art Collection of National Coal Mining Museum for England, with our exciting Adult Art Workshops which run the second Sunday of the month.
Each month, enjoy different sessions with visiting artists using a variety of mediums, inspired by the art within our Collections.
£12 per adult. (All art materials are included in the workshop price)

Sunday 13 October 2024 - 10:30am - 12:30pm, Caricature Art (Michael Hollinworth) – Try your hand at the whimsical world of art, drawing inspiration from the media caricature portrayals of miners and politicians during the 1984-1985 Miners’ Strike.

Sunday 8 December 2024 - 10:30am - 12:30pm, Guided Watercolour Canary (Moira Spencer) – Delve into the art of watercolour in this guided experimental workshop, discovering new tips and tricks to paint a vibrant canary-inspired artwork.

Sunday 9 February 2025 - 10:30am - 12:30pm, Mixed Media Sculpture (Lee Graham) – Craft a mixed media sculpture of a pit village, using recycled components, blending various materials and textures whilst experimenting with new techniques.

Sunday 11 May 2025 - 10:30am - 12:30pm, Pit Pony Watercolour (Moira Spencer) – Get creative with a palette of colours and lots of interesting techniques to create a pit pony-inspired artwork.
Sunday 8 June 2025 - 10:30am - 12:30pm, Paper Sculpture (Sean Barry) – Explore the art of three-dimensional paper crafting and master techniques to sculpt intricate designs, fold delicate forms, and assemble layers to create imaginative artworks.
Sunday 13 July 2025 - 10:30am - 12:30pm, Gelli Printing (Jennifer Ashby) – Learn to create nature-inspired artworks using gelatine plates and natural elements, and explore techniques to capture intricate textures and vivid colours on paper.
