The West Riding Concertina Ensemble Concert (Colne Valley Museum)

About the event

We are delighted to welcome The West Riding Concertina Ensemble for an afternoon of Music at Colne Valley Museum. They will perform two sets of music with a break in between for refreshments or to look around the Museum.

The West Riding Concertina Ensemble plays the traditional repertoire of the English Concertina Band - marches and tunes mostly from the late nineteenth and early twentieth century, together with some earlier music and arrangements of folk tunes and more modern pieces.

Concertina bands were prevalent across the country, but concentrated in the North of England, from the late nineteenth century through to the early 1960s, playing a similar repertoire to brass bands.

As our name implies, we are based in West Yorkshire (Leeds and Huddersfield). We are a concert band available to provide music for folk clubs and other clubs and organisations.

Concert: 1:00 pm to 2:30 pm

The Concert is free, but Museum admission applies.

Adults £5, children and members free.
