Yorkshire Day Gala at The Mining Museum 2026

About the event

Join us for a grand gala family fun extravaganza in the proper Yorkshire way, inspired by the vibrant Miners’ welfare galas of years past. Immerse yourself in the sights, sounds and experiences of real coalfield celebration.

Enjoy brass band music, free creative activities, performances, stalls and competitions. Take part in different sports with Disability Sport Yorkshire as we celebrate the historic role the welfare fund played in supporting rehabilitation through sport for disabled miners, free creative activities.

Part of ‘Welfares Reimagined: a partnership project with National Coal Mining Museum for England, CISWO, the Miners’ Welfare Charity), Spectrum People, Creative Minds and the Creative Health Hub at the University of Huddersfield, funded by the Museum’s Association’s Esmee Fairbairn Communities and Collections Fund.
