Drumming and Street Percussion with Banda Na Rua

About this activity

Previously known as Honley Samba Band, Banda Na Rua is a mass of percussion energy. A head-turning, foot-tapping sound that just makes you want to dance! This "Band on the Street" is more than just a Samba Band, blending world music with Funk and Drum n Bass, arranged by experienced band leader Katie Mallard.

We use traditional Samba style instruments ranging from small agogo bells and shakers to large surdo bass drums. A traditional Samba rhythm originates from Rio De Janeiro but at Banda Na Rua we excel in making pounding rhythms that fuse together traditional rhythms from all over Brazil with modern British styles.

All aged 10+ are welcome along to try out this unique Street Percussion style with Banda Na Rua. No musical experience is necessary, just a willingness to throw yourself in and work hard.
