Qawalli night - music and song **Cancelled**

About the event

**In light of the increasing threat of the Coronavirus outbreak, it is with great sadness that we announce that this year’s Huddersfield Literature Festival is cancelled.**

Part of Huddersfield Literature Festival
Location: OA5.5/01, Oastler Building, University of Huddersfield, Queensgate HD1 3DH

Immerse yourself in the hypnotic experience of Qawalli – a performance of music and song in a style dating back to the 13th century and inspired by Sufi religious tradition. Vocalists weave melodies over percussion-based music, including harmoniums, tabla and dholak. Whatever your faith, Qawalli can be an intense and profoundly moving experience.

Radio Sangam brings Qaisar Mahmood and party to Huddersfield, as part of the Huddersfield Literature Festival. Featuring a local Qawalli group, who take inspiration from Nusrat Fateh Ali Khan, Qawalli’s most famous performer, and folk music from Pakistan. The event will be a three-hour explosion of your musical senses. Ticket price includes a free buffet with vegetarian options, inspired by the cuisine of Pakistan (soft drinks available to purchase).

Age guidance: 16+

£15 -£20 Tickets can also be purchased in person at Sangam Radio, Miln Road, Huddersfield HD1 5EJ
