History

  1. Batley and District Mencap was formed in 1952 to provide facilities for both children and adults who had a learning disability.

Due to the economic climate and cost of maintenance of Mencap Hall and manpower we have had to sell the building and now are based at Chickenley Community Centre Dewsbury, where there are more facilities for our members to enjoy on Thursday evening 6 til 8pm. We share these facilities with PHAB Dewsbury which works very well and all our member together with PHAB members enjoy the evening immensely. We hold various outings, parties etc both in the evening and during the day to enable our members to enjoy life.

We welcome any new members from around the area.
