  1. Locorum is a non-profit organisation dedicated to addressing the shortage of culturally appropriate health and care services for communities in Kirklees, with a particular focus on African, Caribbean and mixed heritage communities.

With a clear vision to promote equity and inclusion, we also advocate for systemic change to improve the way services are delivered. Our scope has expanded to encompass the broader determinants of health, acknowledging the interconnections with the criminal justice system, housing, education, employment and skills, the environment and social care.

We support the co-production of community-led solutions to tackle issues at the grassroots level, recognizing the lived experiences and skills that many individuals can contribute to drive positive change.

    Our current work includes:
    - strengthening local health partnerships
    - workshops on health issues that disproportionately affect our communities
    - training courses to support digital inclusion and employability
    - volunteering opportunities
    - outreach and engagement (we are TSL community champions), and
    - general community development, support and advice to new and developing community organisations.

We welcome new volunteers and look forward to working with you.
