Carers Count Mental Health Service

  1. Carers Count Mental Health Service is funded by Kirklees Council to support people who are supporting family members or friends with mental health needs and/or drug/alcohol dependency, and are not paid for this support. If you are supporting someone, this may mean you are a carer.

    Any carer contacting the service can expect: to be listened to and taken seriously, to be treated with respect, and to be supported in a way that suits their individual needs.
    The service includes:

    • emotional 1:1 support for carers
    • carer breaks -our team will spend time with the person being supported to allow the carer a break
    • carer groups, facilitated by trained staff to encourage peer support and activities for carers
    • a Carers’ Newsletter and What’s On brochure – also available on the website
    • helping carers have a voice and be heard through the carers network
