  1. We are a constituted group set up to save Red House, former Museum, Gomersal, BD19 4JP. The Red House Heritage Group are putting together an Expression of Interest and hope we will then go forward to apply for Community Asset Transfer of the Red House site.

Our vision for the Red House site is that it will become a Heritage Centre and a Centre for the Arts. We will value and celebrate the wonderful multi faceted heritage - textile industrial history; Charlotte Bronte connection with the family and her novel 'Shirley'; Mary Taylor from Red House - an independent woman and entrepreneur 200 years ahead of her time and Luddite history (the Luddites who were pioneers and martyrs for the rights of working people and their families).

We also intend that Red House will be a centre for the arts - theatre, literature, film making, photography, pictorial arts, music and much more. These activities will enhance and make accessible the heritage aspect of Red House and will reach out to the local community - schools, young people, seniors, people with health problems and their carers - in fact everyone will be welcome and catered for. We would like to work together with other local providers, schools and other organisations.

We are also aware that Red House, with its heritage, is of importance to the region, the country and many people from abroad. We hope to provide access and activities to attract and inform people on a national and international basis. This is an important and unique site and deserves to be saved and reach its full potential.

If you are interested in joining our group please contact the secretary, details below.
