  1. The Skelmanthorpe Textile Heritage Centre (situated at 6 Queen Street, Skelmanthorpe) is a small museum in a "one-up-one-down" former weaver's cottage. The downstairs family living-quarters have been maintained & furnished as a weaver's family home would have been c1900. Upstairs is an authentic hand-loom, in working condition, along with fascinating displays & artefacts linked to our textile heritage. The museum is a Skelmanthorpe jewel!

The owner of the museum, local historian Leslie Robinson, passed away in 2014 but the Friends group, formed in 2012 to assist Leslie, have been able to purchase the museum with the support of the family thanks to a Heritage Lottery Fund grant and it is now run as a charitable trust.

We are keen to welcome new Friends. Please see our website or contact us for details.

Also our facebook page (link under Further Information) for details of regular open days.
