  1. The project is currently based In Huddersfield, West Yorkshire. It is about making black history inclusive of all history, in the United Kingdom and around the world. One step at a time though. The aim is to bring adults, young people and children together from all backgrounds, so we can educate them about the true history, achievements and issues regarding our black community through workshops, film screenings and events.

Black History month is only once a year, I owe it to my daughter and the youngers of my community, to set up this project so that they can learn how amazing black people are, regardless of shade, background, hair texture or island heritage. We all deserve to know all history everyday, every week, every month, not once a year……

When a white child is asking a black child if they were born here, then so much more still needs to be done. (true story). The workshops and activities will open up their minds and learn things that curriculum white wash. At The Cocoa Butter Project, we aim to encourage participants to engage, ask (respectful questions) and educate them so that they can then, trace their own family tree and re-write the timeline of British history, without the white washing.

Please see our facebook page for latest news and to contact us.
