Normally we add categories for you when the entry is set up, but you have the option to edit them. Very occasionally some categories have restricted usage and we’ll let you know if we feel there’s a problem.

The categories are tiered with the broadest first. Click on the plus sign till you find the specific categories that best suit your group.

Venue

If you want to change your venue or add a new one please use the postcode / street name field to see a list of venues. This should cover all venues in Kirklees, but if you can’t find the venue you need please contact Community Directory, and we will advise or add it for you.

  1. Open Space, Fields Rise, Kirkheaton, Huddersfield
    1. There is a toilet with some facilities for people with disabilities but it may not be suitable for everybody. Please contact the group if you need further information. Partially accessible toilet
The venue is the village green, which is adjacent to Kirkheaton Library and Community Centre. Access to the field would be difficult with a wheelchair. There is limited disabled toilet access during the annual gala.

News

You can add or amend news items, and the date will change automatically, although you may need to go back into the entry to see the revised date.

To delete a news item, there is a delete option when you press Edit. This currently works only on the headline, and the text field needs to be saved with at least one digit in it, e.g. ‘x’. Alternatively, you can replace it with a new item.

Great Winter Get Together 2023

  1. Great Winter Get Together 2023
  2. We are fast approaching the Great Winter Get Together (16-29 January 2023), the Jo Cox Foundation's winter campaign, which aims to highlight and address loneliness in our communities.

Given the cost of living crisis, this year's Great Winter Get Together will be more vital than ever. Already 11% of people, and 15% of young people, report being chronically lonely. With many unable to afford to access their usual sources of connection, we anticipate these numbers will rise sharply.

That's why this year's Great Winter Get Together is about creating and sharing Places for Connection in our local communities. As part of the campaign, we want to highlight as many places as possible where people can connect; free, local spots they can visit and make social connections. These could be either a specific Great Winter Get Together event or a more regular event you hold. You can register any events or places for connection you organise via the website or contact us at yorkshire@jocoxfoundation.org

The Great Winter Get Together campaign aims to:
    - Encourage people to create places of connection
    - Promote places of connection that already exist
    - Signpost and encourage people experiencing loneliness to attend

We'd love for you to take part and be involved. If you have any questions or want other details, please feel free to get in touch.
