  1. Goalball is a sport played by mostly visually impaired athletes although the game is also open to sighted athletes. Two teams of three players play on a tactile court 9 metres wide by 18 long. A ball with a bell is rolled at pace from end to end and the teams have to defend their goals. All players are blind-folded to ensure fairness and a referee manages the game. A great game for orientation skills, listening and great fun.

A goalball club was launched in Huddersfield giving blind and visually impaired people the chance to take part in this Paralympic sport. The club was for players over the age of 14 years of all abilities whether experienced or novice, sighted or non-sighted.

Unfortunately the club is not currently training on a regular basis in Huddersfield, however players are travelling to Leeds to train with the West Yorkshire Goalball Club.

Please see the website for more details about goalball and the nearest clubs including Leeds.
