History

  1. History image goes here
  2. August 2009:

Through its work with students, parents and tutors, EducateFirst recognised that there remained an unmet need for educational support for many children within local communities. We therefore teamed with a group tutors to try and help various communities tackle this issue.

    February 2010:

In Leeds, we held a free open day to determine what type of support was required by children in the area. A community-based learning initiative was set up designed to help provide additional educational support to children outside of school. This support is now ongoing in the form of classes in key subjects (English, maths and science) for children aged 5-16 years.

    October 2010:

Following requests from parents, we held a second open day and subsequent classes for the community of Huddersfield.

    September 2011:

We now enter our third academic year and hope to welcome the community of Dewsbury to participate in this expanding project.

    September 2012:

The project expanded to Bradford where a free open day was welcomed by parents, children and local businesses who supported the launch of this learning initiative within their community. Tuition classes commenced after gaining a better understanding of the educational needs within the area.

    September 2014:

A new and revised learning programme was launched following feedback from parents, students and teachers. Additional incentives were on offer to help students reach and maintain their educational targets.

    January 2015:

Working in collaboration with the University of Huddersfield, EducateFirst provided work opportunities for new PGCE graduates and aspiring teachers.

    August 2015:

EducateFirst celebrates 6 years of providing local school children with the educational support they need and deserve. We have not only provided continued support over the academic years, but have also established a successful summer school project (also now in its 6th year) to help students bridge the gap in their learning.

    July 2016:

Support continued over the summer holidays with our Summer School. We catered for Key Stages 1-4, preparing students for when they return to school in the new academic year.

    May 2017:

As with every year, students benefited from SATs and GCSE exam revision sessions across our learning centres. We received outstanding feedback from parents and students.

    October 2018:

The community learning project now enters it's 9th year. To date, we have provided tuition and educational support to thousands of students and their parents.

    February 2019:

We look forward to celebrating our 10th anniversary later this year.

    August 2023:

We celebrate over 14 years of supporting local school children achieve their educational goals.
