  1. The Friends of Cliff Recreation Ground promotes the Rec as a resource for local people and visitors. The Rec is on an open heathland site, right on the edge of Holmfirth, high above the town. "The best view of the valley may be had from the top of the Cliff and the panorama spread before the visitor will well repay them for the climb up the hill." (Visitors' guide, 1908)

In 2011 the Rec was designated as a QE2 field, which means that it is now protected from any development, in perpetuity.

The Friends has produced an illustrated, 80 page booklet - "It's always windy up there: a short history of Cliff Rec" - based on the work we did as part of a heritage project. Please contact us if you would like a free copy.

Every year we organise the increasingly popular Carols on the Cliff, with Father Christmas and members of the Hade Edge Band in attendance.

We welcome new members. Our next meeting is on Tuesday 30 April, at 7-30pm. Please contact us for the venue.
