History

  1. I have been teaching Egyptian Dance for 12 years and for 6years as a business locally in Marsden after having over 20 years experience and training, some of it from Betty Thompson, a Raks Sharquey trained instructor based in Horsforth, Leeds. I have also attended many workshops by well known dancers. I was also a member of a troupe, ''Arabesque'' who have performed at weddings, displays, rest homes and theatres.

During this time I have gained knowledge of the various styles and techniques of the dance and some background history.

I have noticed a link with the dance and woman''s health care and appreciation of their own bodies and noticed how their confidence grows.

I presently have about thirty regular students, some of which have joined my dance troupe ''Kismet'' where we perform for charity events and Egyptian parties some of which I have organised myself. I have also organised a Mums and Kids workshop locally.

I am currently teaching world dance and rhythm with children and people with special needs . I am running sessions at the Waves Daycare Centre in Slaithwaite from January 2014 and would also like to work with ladies who have suffered abuse or have had confidence issues due to illness, especially breast cancer and mental illness. I am currently working to make this happen at S2R Create Space, Brooke St Huddersfield.
I am also a trained Reiki Master and i have a clinic in Marsden and one run from Sykes and associates Osteopaths in central Huddersfield. Please see my Kismet Reiki website for further information.
I have pulled together the Reiki Healing and the Bellydance moves to create a new therapeutic dance class or one to one session called Flow Therapy.
