  1. EPIKS or Environmental Projects in Kirklees is a rebrand of Environment Kirklees Ltd. –
it aims to make our towns and villages a better place to live, work and study.

EPIKS is a not for profit environmental organisation based in Huddersfield. With the support of volunteers, local sponsors and partners we deliver local environmental projects.

Our main focus is promoting biodiversity and river stewardship, working in partnership with community organisations, businesses, education institutions and Kirklees Council through our Greenstreams project. The creation of a 3 Valleys Nature Park is part of our longer term vision for Kirklees where we are the lead for a consortium of voluntary and public sector organisations working together to make this a reality.

We are also working on environmental projects that promote waste minimisation and recycling and encourage "active travel".

Please see our website for more details. Our site includes a link to the Greenstreams website, or there is a link on this page under Further Information.

History

  1. Environmental Alliance was set up in 1997 and since that time has been involved in many community environmental projects. This is especially so around the River Colne where we have helped create several kilometers of public access to the River Colne, where previously, there was none. Our aim now, working with local businesses and community groups, is ensure local people benefit from that work.
