  1. Communities Together is a ''not for profit'' organisation working in Kirklees to promote community cohesion and inter-cultural dialogue.

We do this through running workshops, providing consultancy and training as well as organising and managing community based creative arts projects. Our speciality is in the field of media related projects. Our latest project, Radio Sangam is one of the vehicles that we use to promote and support community cohesion.

Radio Ramadhan, another project that we ran in 2009 helped to create a better understanding of Islam, particularly to counter stereotypes and educate understanding of the peaceful nature of this Abrahamic faith.

Our aim is to support bridge building and understanding within communities. We work with all sections of the community but our main aim is to provide support in areas of deprivation.

Our project leaders have skills in a variety of areas, we have project leaders who can speak a variety of languages, including Eastern European migrant languages. All of our workers are CRB checked, with a vast number of them being qualified teachers and registered with the General Teaching Council.

Being a ''not for profit'' organisation means that we have to seek funding through local and national grants as well as the good will of volunteers. Most of our projects are free at the point of delivery, though we do have to charge for some consultancy and advisory work.

Please see our website for more details.
