  1. We are a group of people from the local community who meet regularly to organise fun and interesting events and projects within Marsden and Slaithwaite.

Got an exciting idea for an event or project? Let us know and we'll help you do it! Our past projects have included an ethical fashion show, a community orchard, produce and seed swaps and vegetable growing workshops.

We hold 2 meetings a month but you don't need to come along to our meetings to be involved in the group! But we do have some spaces on our steering group if you want to be involved in that side of things.

Please see our facebook page for latest details and to contact us.

Normally we add categories for you when the entry is set up, but you have the option to edit them. Very occasionally some categories have restricted usage and we’ll let you know if we feel there’s a problem.

The categories are tiered with the broadest first. Click on the plus sign till you find the specific categories that best suit your group.

If you want to change your venue or add a new one please use the postcode / street name field to see a list of venues. This should cover all venues in Kirklees, but if you can’t find the venue you need please contact Community Directory, and we will advise or add it for you.

You can add or amend news items, and the date will change automatically, although you may need to go back into the entry to see the revised date.

To delete a news item, there is a delete option when you press Edit. This currently works only on the headline, and the text field needs to be saved with at least one digit in it, e.g. ‘x’. Alternatively, you can replace it with a new item.

  1. MASTT was formed in November 2007 from members of the local community. Our group is based on the 'Transition Town' Movement started by Rob Hopkins in Kinsale and Totnes.

Since our formation we have organised a number of events and projects to bring together the whole community to improve the way we live now and in the future (details can be found on our website).

We have now planted our Community Orchard in Slaithwaite - volunteers regularly needed to help with its upkeep.

We have also supported the formation of the fantastic The Handmade Bakery, Green Valley Grocer and Edibles.
