Renovation Project Completed May 2009

  1. Birdsedge Village Hall has undergone a major renovation project costing £365,000. The renovations have included a larger main hall, a seperate meeting room/bar area, full disabled access and toilets alongside a commercial kitchen. The whole building is run by a Ground Source Heat pump and under floor heating and environmentally friendly materials have been used throughout the building.
The project has only been possible thanks to the support of the following people:
The National Lottery BIG Community Building
Fund, Kirklees Council Access, Denby Dale Parish Council, Kirklees Adult Services, Kirklees Community Grant Scheme, The Yorkshire Building Society, Charles Hayward Foundation,Bernard Sunley Charitable Foundation, The Low Carbons Building Programme, Age Concern,Huddersfield Common Good Trust , and local residents and businesses.

On behalf of the Trustee's and Management Committee a huge thank you to everyone for investing in our vision for a new hall for the area.
All events in the hall are open to everyone not just the residents of Birdsedge.
The hall is available for hire for private parties and we offer full catering and bar services for these events.
A variety of events will be held throughout the year and will be hosted on this Kirklees website as well as www.birdsedgevillagehall.co.uk

History

  1. Birdsedge Village Hall was founded in 1969 by the Villagers of Birdsedge and has successfully been run for 40 years as a community focal point within a rural area. After many years of fund raising and hard work the fully renovated Village Hall was opened on May 2nd 2009 and now boasts a larger main hall, full disabled facilities, a full commercial kitchen and a separate bar area. The hall is available for private or corporate hire. All our events are open to everyone within the Kirklees are and beyond and visitors are encouraged to join some of our many user groups who currently use the hall.
