  1. KVIN is run by and for visually impaired people. Its members can significantly influence what we do. We currently organise and manage activities which can improve the health and well being of blind and partially sighted people . We provide training and support on the use of a wide range of equipment and assistive technologies, which can assist the development and improve skills towards employability.

Kirklees Visual Impairment Network promotes equal inclusive access to all products, services and environments and provides educational, training and social activities for visually impaired people across Kirklees.

We believe that the use of technology can help to maintain independence and improve people's quality of life and that wherever possible, people should get the opportunity to experience and use the technology, prior to purchase, to ensure it is right for them.

    Current services and projects include:

    • One to One technology support and training by appointment. Usually Wednesdays,
Thursdays and Fridays between 10 am to 3.30 pm. (Currently via zoom)

    • Support and training on magnification produces, Windows and Apple based tablets,
    smart phones

    • Peer mobility orientation project using GPs technology designed for visually impaired people.

    • Smart Phone Apps Club

    • We have a number of applications that can simplify the access to computers, tablets and smart phones for people who have not used this technology before.

Members of KVIN arrange social activities and help to facilitate the learning of new skills or raise and campaign on issues which specially affect visually impaired people.

Any visually impaired person can contact our Team of Volunteers and paid staff

Normally we add categories for you when the entry is set up, but you have the option to edit them. Very occasionally some categories have restricted usage and we’ll let you know if we feel there’s a problem.

The categories are tiered with the broadest first. Click on the plus sign till you find the specific categories that best suit your group.
