  1. The Youth Choirs have formed their own reputation for musical excellence and meet every Wednesday to sing and make music. Regularly performing in the local area and beyond, the choirs have gained great acclaim from a wide spectrum of audiences.

The choirs are made up of three sections, performing both separately and together.

The Young Voices aged 7 to 13
Youth Choir aged 13 to 21+
Vocalise – an ensemble of unbroken voices where singers from both sections of the choir can nurture and develop their singing and musical skills.

History

  1. Huddersfield Choral Junior Choirs were established in 1986 when the 'Choral' celebrated its 150th anniversary. In 2011, the Junior Choir celebrated its 25th Anniversary, an important milestone in its history. During these years the original Youth Choir has amalgamated with its younger section (formerly the 'Children's Choir') now the 'Young Voices' to become the 'Huddersfield Choral Junior Choirs'. The choir sections perform both separately and together.

The Junior Choirs work at a high standard and have won many awards both locally and nationally at music festivals.
The Choirs are given as many opportunities as possible to take part in different events and performances. They have sung at the Prom in the Park, at Harrogate International Conference Centre, at the Royal Festival Hall in London; and of course in Huddersfield Town Hall and in many local churches and other venues. They perform with brass bands, orchestras and other choirs. The choirs help to give young people confidence for life through performing to large audiences and developing the voice. Choir members are given opportunities to perform solos in any style at choir concerts.
