  1. Honley Players is a thriving amateur dramatic group performing at least 4 times a year at ‘The Southgate.’ Our programming includes the very popular annual pantomime along with serious and comedy drama; take a look at our gallery web page.

    Our aim is always to be a forward looking dynamic group open to new ideas and new challenges so we always welcome new comers; people on stage and off; back stage and front of house. Please get in touch and be part of the 'Southgate Theatre', 'Honley Players' experience.

    Costumes and hall available for hire. Members of British Theatre for Disabled (fire registration) and N.O.D.A. One wheelchair per performance.

Normally we add categories for you when the entry is set up, but you have the option to edit them. Very occasionally some categories have restricted usage and we’ll let you know if we feel there’s a problem.

Events and activities

Your events will appear on our ‘What’s on’ pages. You can include anything that people come along to see, such as festivals, shows, fairs, talks and concerts.

Choose + Add event to add details of your event, step by step.

You’ll need to fill in these details:

  • Event name
  • Description - what your event is
  • Dates and times
  • Admission details
  • Venue
  • Contact

You can then Publish your event straight away or choose Save and edit to add more details first. You can add more event information at any time, including:

  • Images
  • Facilities
  • Links and PDF documents


Your activities will appear on our ‘Things to do’ pages. You can include any regular ongoing activities that people can join in with, such as scouts and guides, youth clubs, craft groups, dancing, sports clubs and gardening clubs.

Choose + Add activity to add details of your activity, step by step.

  • Description – what your activity is
  • Dates and times
  • Admission details
  • Venue
  • Contact

You can then Publish your activity straight away or choose Save and edit to add more details first. You can add more activity information at any time, including:

If you want to change your venue or add a new one please use the postcode / street name field to see a list of venues. This should cover all venues in Kirklees, but if you can’t find the venue you need please contact Community Directory, and we will advise or add it for you.

    Wheelchair access can be arranged in advance but is very difficult.


You can add or amend news items, and the date will change automatically, although you may need to go back into the entry to see the revised date.

To delete a news item, there is a delete option when you press Edit. This currently works only on the headline, and the text field needs to be saved with at least one digit in it, e.g. ‘x’. Alternatively, you can replace it with a new item.

  2. MOMologues - If you are a mum or dad, grandma or granddad, an auntie or uncle . . . or about to become one of these, then MOMologues is a must see for you. The Perfect night out for family, friends or as a works night out for entertainment and a light supper.
    Written as ‘The Original Story of Motherhood’ anybody who’s had a child, wants a child, tried for a child, or are empty nesters, will relate to this production.
    Poignantly delivered humorous stories that everyone will relate to and will bring tears of laughter, grimaces of pain, cringes and groans of ‘I remember that’ as we are ‘suckered’ into the stories of four mums; their desires, their embarrassments, their vexations and questions, along with a host of other trials, tribulations and frustrations that will make you both squirm and chortle.
    Tickets are on sale at £13.50 each or four tickets for £50
