  1. Friends of Honley Library are gearing up to taking over the management of Honley Library building. After four years of negotiation and with the tremendous support of Holme Valley Parish Council we are almost there. Leases have been drawn up, Friends of Honley Library is now a registered charity, we have obtained grants to do remedial work to the library building and have an enthusiastic management team and a strong Board of Trustees. We plan, together with Kirklees Library Services, to create a warm, welcoming building and to open it up to other community activities and local groups.

You can add or amend news items, and the date will change automatically, although you may need to go back into the entry to see the revised date.

To delete a news item, there is a delete option when you press Edit. This currently works only on the headline, and the text field needs to be saved with at least one digit in it, e.g. ‘x’. Alternatively, you can replace it with a new item.

NEARLY THERE! NEARLY THERE!

We plan, together with Kirklees Library Services, to create a warm, welcoming building and to open it up to other community activities and local groups. What we really need now is to strengthen our team of volunteers to enable us to carry forward all our plans – and we do need much more support. You don’t have to be a book worm but you might be somebody who has empathy and enjoys being with other people. If this is so then you could be just the person we need. Other skills we need are someone willing to be a minute secretary and helpers to support all the activities we have planned. IT skills are needed and help with publicity and promotion. Gardening, DIY skills and cake baking will be needed too. As you can tell we are reaching out to all the residents of Honley to ask for help. It can be flexible and we are a happy group to work with. You will be welcomed with open arms. Please do let us know if you think you may be interested. We can meet over a coffee and tell you more of our plans.
