  1. Cliffe House is a centre of excellence in outdoor learning and has high class training and conference facilities set in a beautiful Grade II listed Victorian building. We provide tailor made events for schools, organisations, individuals and the local community.
    Also, following our recent refurbishment, we now offer Wedding Packages.

    Our experienced team deliver exciting activities to groups on and off-site. Cliffe House is set in 11 acres of land comprising of mature woodland, ponds and grassland areas, situated in the south of Kirklees close to the Peak District National Park.

    We offer a range of residential and day visits, using outdoor learning to build confidence, self-esteem teamwork and independence. We ensure that all children and young people are challenged, inspired and create life-long skills and memories.

    Our Adventure Playground is open to the public Monday to Friday (except bank holidays) during Kirklees school holidays, from 10am and we have an onsite kiosk selling hot drinks, snacks and ice-creams

History

  1. Cliffe House was originally built by Seth Senior for his son James. The Senior family were brewers and started making ale on the site of the current Sovereign Inn Public House. In 1947 Dewsbury Council bought the house as an outdoor centre to be used by local children. In 1974 Kirklees Council was formed and it has been part of the education service since this date.
