Heckmondwike: today in Open Door Fortnight (Wednesday and Thursday)

About the event

During Community Open Door Fortnight some local community groups would like to welcome you in to show you what they do, have a chat, and perhaps you might like to take part or become a volunteer.

Wednesday 7th and 14th October

Spenborough Walkie Talkies - walk from various venues starting at 10am for 2 hours

Catch-up Coffee Morning at Spen Court Care Home, Railway Street 10.30am to 11.45am

Heckmondwike Petanque Club in Algernon Firth Park at 1pm.

Heckmondwike Players' Motown and Soul Afternoon in the Comrades Club, Regent Street 1.30pm to 4pm £4.

Heckmondwike Cycle Speedway Club in Algernon Firth Park 7.30pm Booking required.

Thursday 8th and 15th October

Norristhorpe Coffee Morning at Norristhorpe United Reformed Church 10am to 12pm

Table Tennis at the TT Centre, Cemetery Road. 10am to 12pm 30minute taster session. Booking required.

Spen Shed at The Ponderosa Zoo 9.30am to 1pm
Crafts, woodworking and gardening skills for adults


North Kirklees Disabled and Elderly Social Club at The Comrades Club, Regent Street 1pm to 2.30pm Bingo, raffle and live entertainment.

With most activities you can just turn up, but some do require booking so please check. Most are free but several ask for donations for drinks, and some have a set fee.
