Step back into Tudor Yorkshire with The Leeds Waits as they bring to life one of the most dramatic and turbulent chapters in English history.

In The Great Hall, Oakwell Hall

The Pilgrimage of Grace was the largest popular uprising of the Tudor period, sparked by opposition to King Henry VIII’s religious reforms and the dissolution of the monasteries. Beginning in 1536, thousands of people across the North of England united in defence of their faith, traditions and local communities.

Through music from this remarkable period, The Leeds Waits will explore Yorkshire’s role in the rebellion, the involvement of prominent local families, and the dramatic events that unfolded before the uprising was brutally suppressed.

Join us in the atmospheric surroundings of Oakwell Hall’s Great Hall for a fascinating journey into the past, where compelling storytelling and authentic sixteenth-century music bring this pivotal moment in history vividly to life.
