Knocking On Heavens Door by Beth Cartwright: exhibition at The Media Centre, Huddersfield (from October 13th)

We’re excited to welcome a new exhibition to The Media Centre, Knocking on Heaven’s Door by local artist Beth Cartwright.

Based in Slaithwaite, just outside Huddersfield, Beth draws much of her inspiration from the landscape around her home. The hills, walking routes and ever-changing skies all feed into a body of work that explores our connection with the beauty of the world around us.

Knocking on Heaven’s Door is a collection of new paintings created through a free and intuitive process. Beth often begins with a colour palette rather than a fixed idea of the finished piece, building up layers of acrylic paint before refining and blending them as the work develops. Painting is a therapeutic process for her, shaped by mood, light, colour and a sense of where a path or landscape might lead.

“I am always drawn to the colours, mood and light above us and its connection to the land, to paths leaving us wondering what’s up ahead, this journey we are all on, the beauty we are surrounded by. I love how art can transport you to a different place and I hope my paintings can draw you in and take you to a good place.” Beth Cartwright

The exhibition invites you to spend time with these landscapes, colours and imagined journeys, and to experience Beth’s sense of awe at the world around us.
