Mining Museum: Behind the Scenes at Caphouse Colliery Tour

About the event

Discover the stories and secrets of Caphouse Colliery on an all-new special tour with our expert Mine Guides.

Let them take you on a journey above the surface and behind-the-scenes of Caphouse Colliery, including special places never normally seen by visitors.

Highlights include the Pithead Baths, a sneaky peek down our drift mine, up into the Screens where our coal was processed, and into the Lamp Room where you will get the chance to use a traditional miners’ lamp.

Please meet at the Lamp Room, five minutes before the start of your allocated tour time.

We recommend pre-booking your tour online to avoid disappointment, as we cannot guarantee any on-the-day spaces.

Running Wednesday 8 January 2025 - Sunday 30 March 2025 (Wed-Sun, 11am, 1.30pm & 2.30pm)
