Gregory Fields Tennis Club (Highburton)

About this activity

Category: sport and fitness Gregory Fields Tennis Club is a small and friendly local club at the heart of Highburton and Kirkburton – where new and existing members can always be sure of a warm welcome. The Club has three all-weather tarmac courts with floodlights making it possible to play all year round.

There is also a modern purpose built clubhouse with kitchen facilities and changing rooms with showers.

If you are interested in playing competitively, then we have two men's teams, two ladies teams.

If you prefer to play socially, then we hold club sessions on Thursday evenings from 6pm and on Friday afternoons from 1pm. These sessions are an important focal point for the club and provide a great opportunity for members to come along, meet other players, mix in - and generally have a fun time!

Andy Smith, our Level 4 LTA qualified Coach, runs an extensive coaching programme on Sunday mornings, which caters for children aged 4 upwards. He also offers individual or group coaching for adults.

It is also possible to use the courts on a Pay & Play basis.

Please see our website for full details or on our Instagram page.

Thanks to the Kirklees Community Fund we have expanded our appeal and have opened up the club to play Pickleball. We are playing regularly (subject to weather) on Wednesday and Thursday evenings from 6pm. We also have a session Tuesday 1pm and members also run ad hoc sessions subject to demand (and weather).

Pay and play is currently £4 per session or yearly membership @ £40. Both these costs will increase in the new season from April but we will always aim to be fair and competitive.

Pickleball is great for those wanting to continue with racket sports or for those completely new to any kind of game. It’s easy to pick up and really enjoyable. It’s also a very sociable game….competitive without being harsh.
