A Midsummer Night's Dream (in Huddersfield) - a community production at the LBT

About the event

Our community production is back as local people take to our main stage in another classic story with a Lawrence Batley Theatre twist. This time we present an adaptation of William Shakespeare’s A Midsummer Night’s Dream.
What happens when Shakespeare’s classic tale of love, magic, and mischief is dropped right into the middle of Huddersfield’s Greenhead Park?

As the Mayor prepares to open the park’s newly renovated bandstand, things are about to get chaotic. The organisers of the Food & Drink Festival are feuding. Young lovers sneak away into the night. Amateur actors rehearse for their big moment. And then, a gardener with a walkie-talkie sets off an enchanted confetti cannon…

Freshly adapted by our Head of Creative Programme Olivia Race, join us for a joyful, funny, and unmistakably Huddersfield take on Shakespeare’s comedy performed by a community cast of all ages.
