Great Winter Get Together (16-29 January 2023)

About the event

We are fast approaching the Great Winter Get Together (16-29 January 2023), the Jo Cox Foundation's winter campaign, which aims to highlight and address loneliness in our communities.

Given the cost of living crisis, this year's Great Winter Get Together will be more vital than ever. Already 11% of people, and 15% of young people, report being chronically lonely. With many unable to afford to access their usual sources of connection we anticipate that these numbers will rise sharply.

That's why this year's Great Winter Get Together is about creating and sharing Places for Connection in our local communities. As part of the campaign, we want to highlight as many places as possible where people can connect; free, local spots they can visit and make social connections. These could be either a specific Great Winter Get Together event or a more regular event you hold. You can register any events or places for connection you organise via the website or contact us at yorkshire@jocoxfoundation.org

The Great Winter Get Together campaign aims to:
- Encourage people to create places of connection
- Promote places of connection that already exist
- Signpost and encourage people experiencing loneliness to attend
