About the event
Touring production By Up the Road Theatre at the Mining Museum.
This brand-new play includes true stories and memories, told to us by those from the coalfields of Kent.
The play features two actors, both of whom play a variety of different characters throughout the show.
“And another thing I remember is the blue scars. Every coal miner had blue scars.”
Beneath the Banner shines a light on the many different experiences of those
who lived and worked in our pit towns and villages.
Coal Queens to canaries, pit nurses to pit head baths, courage to comedy, these are their stories, in their own words.
