INTERWOVEN Mungo and shoddy exhibition, talks and workshops (Dewsbury)

About the event

Between April 30th and May 15th a series of workshops and a talk linked to Dewsbury's textile history.

Also an exhibition about the shoddy and mungo story which will be open from 11am to 3pm Wednesday to Saturday, unless a workshop or talk is taking place.

The workshops are free but you must book. Please click on the link under Further Information for more details and online booking.

  • Saturday 30 April 2022 - 1:00pm - 3:00pm, The Shoddy Factory Workshop - free but you need to book.
  • Sunday 1 May 2022 - 3:00pm - 4:00pm, Family Folk Music Workshop - free but you need to book.
  • Wednesday 4 May 2022 - 6:00pm - 6:45pm, Talk on Modern Day Shoddy - free but you need to book.
  • Thursday 5 May 2022 - 5:00pm - 7:00pm, Crochet with T-Shirt yarn workshop - free but you need to book.
  • Friday 6 May 2022 - 12:00pm - 2:00pm, Embroidery for longer lasting clothes workshop - traditional embroidery skills from across the world used to repair, sustain and update textiles. Free but you need to book.
  • Friday 6 May 2022 - 7:30pm - 9:30pm, Music and performance by various artists celebrating the rich heritage of North Kirklees’ shoddy and mungo textile industry. Please see link under Further Information for more details and booking.
  • Saturday 7 May 2022 - 2:00pm - 3:00pm, Family Dance: Social Workshop. Free but you need to book.
  • Sunday 8 May 2022 - 2:00pm - 4:00pm, 3D Textile Collage Workshop. Free but you need to book.
  • Saturday 14 May 2022 - 2:00pm - 3:00pm, Weaving Words Poetry Workshop. Free but you need to book.
  • Sunday 15 May 2022 - 12:00pm - 2:00pm, Gini's Dorset Buttons Workshop. Free but you need to book.
