The Government Inspector

Probably Nikolai Gogol’s best-known and most popular work, The Government Inspector is a classic Russian comedy of errors that satirises provincial bureaucracy, small-town corruption and the nature of human greed. In this new version by Northern writer Martin Aylott the action is transferred to Underfield, a Pennine town in the 1950s. The Mayor has just got wind that a Government Inspector is about to visit the town unannounced; the eminent townsfolk conspire to identify the inspector so they can cover up the dodgy dealings and back handers have been going on between the local officials.

Lexicon of the Mouth

Lexicon of the Mouth is an original performance created in response to a work of poetic nonfiction by artist-scholar Brandon LaBelle. Students develop their ensemble skills through shared vocal and physical training, creating a safe environment to discover the unexpected. The resulting non-narrative performance is structured as a tapestry of vocal action and events with little or no spoken text.

The Dream Shedding

Set in a remote village at the edge of the ocean, The Dream Shedding is a dark folk tale about oppressive times and denied dreams. This ensemble performance has been devised by the company in response to Deborah Templeton's short story, through a creative process involving yoga and meditation.
