The Consequences of Ignorance by Sophocles (drama)

About the event

Performed by Year 1 Drama students at the University of Huddersfield.

Sophocles' three Theban plays centre around the story of Oedipus, the revelation of his guilt and the consequences for himself, his immediate family, and the wider community. First year students present adaptations of each of the three plays: Oedipus Rex, Oedipus at Colonus, and Antigone. Sophocles' three plays explore themes such as the limits to free will; the responsibilities of citizenship; the consequences of ignorance; and the tribulations of exile.
