Woad: a Year of Colour (Batley)

About the event

Join artist Jane Howroyd at Bagshaw Museum for a year long journey into Woad.

Over the next 12 months the workshops will investigate and experiment to explore the wide range of uses of woad including dyeing fabrics and clothing, different styles of printing and also using it to paint onto a variety of objects.

Participants can join for just one, several or even all of the workshops to find out what a diverse and interesting plant woad really is.

Each of the workshop sessions will investigate a different use and aspect of woad; from eco printing to vat dyeing and even using woad to paint ceramics and stain shells, wood and feathers. Participants will also have the opportunity to grow their own woad plants to use later in the year.
