Dates and venues

  • Saturday 18 May 2024 - 9:30am - 2:30pm, "Rock Sandwiches": a Bite Through Marsden's Geology - Join our geology expert to learn about the geology of the Marsden area. Interesting jaunt around Pule Hill. Distance: 7 miles.
  • Saturday 25 May 2024 - 10:30am - 3:30pm, "Marsden Poetry Trail" - Marsden has a rich history of poetry. We shall be visiting landmarks that gave the local poets inspiration to write their work and we shall be reading some of their poems. Distance: 10 miles
  • Sunday 2 June 2024 - 10:30am - 2:30pm, Explorers walk: river dipping at Eastergate Bridge to see the creatures which live in the river. Bring your wellies if you wish to help us collect our samples. Children welcome. *Booking essential.
  • Saturday 8 June 2024 - 10:30am - 4:30pm, Circular and Merrydale. Explore the Colne Valley and Merrydale Clough above Slaithwaite, with great views of both sides of the valley. Distance: 8 miles.
  • Saturday 15 June 2024 - 1:30pm - 4:30pm, Guided Walk to March Haigh Reservoir. Distance: 6 miles. £3 donation is welcome.
  • Friday 21 June 2024 - 7:00pm - 10:00pm, Enjoy the last daylight hours on the longest day of the year - will go to Tunnel End, ascend to Intake Head then Pule Summit, descend and return via Old Mount Rd. 5 miles with some off-path walking, and a steep hill.
  • Saturday 22 June 2024 - 3:00am - 8:00am, Morning Madness: see the sun rise on Marsden moor then enjoy a well earned breakfast at a local hostelry. Meet at 3am and follow guides on a nine-mile hike.Breakfast is included in ticket price (£8). *Booking by June 14th essential.
