  1. Dark Horse is a successful producing theatre company with a ten year track record in regional and national touring productions, which reach a broad and increasing audience.

    Our company of learning disabled actors are highly trained and skilled professionals who work in film, television and theatre. Inclusive in our approach we are industry leaders in the production of high profile integrated theatre, bringing together disabled and non-disabled actors to develop and produce groundbreaking work.

    We believe talented theatre makers can and should work together with equality to reflect the world as it is and make impactful theatre for twenty first century audiences.

    We deliver industry standard actor training affiliated to the Academy of the Live and Recorded Arts (ALRA), a member of the National Council for Drama Training. We deliver high quality corporate training to a range of private, public and voluntary organisations.

Venue

If you want to change your venue or add a new one please use the postcode / street name field to see a list of venues. This should cover all venues in Kirklees, but if you can’t find the venue you need please contact Community Directory, and we will advise or add it for you.

    The theatre has awards for the quality of its access: there are lifts to all rooms; an audio system for the hard of hearing; some events have British Sign Language; some are Relaxed Performances for those who a more laid-back experience would benefit.

News

    If you are keen to develop a great range of skills in voice, movement and acting technique then STUDIO A is for you. No previous experience required!
